Chu Cat Chronicle, Number 3: Mailly-le-Chateau

Mailly-le-Chateau is where our hotel, Le Castel, is situated. It's in the Bourgogne region (Burgendy) in France. Bourgogne is famous for its wine.

Chu Cat Chronicle, Number 3: Annecy

The second chapter of Chu Cat Chronicle 3 is about our two days trip in Annecy, France. Annecy is a chic city very close to Geneva, Switzerland. You can see the Swiss influence in the architecture. Annecy has a very large lake in the Alpes mountainous landscape. This is my first time to be in such a landscape. The contrast of high mountains and clam lake is very strong and impressive. Along the lake, there are numerous beaches and small harbors.

Chu Cat Chronicle, Number 3: Le Sauze

The third travel location is in the Alpes. We stayed in Le Sauze, near Barcelonette. Le Sauze is a famous ski resort in winter. In summer, it is popular for river rafting, forest adventure or long-distance hiking. We went there for rafting. You might think that the Alpes is just cold and covered with snow. Oh no, it's very hot and green in summer. The water in the rivers are freezing cold and that's the only cold thing in summer Alpes.

Chu Cat Chronicle, Number 3: Formia

After French Alpes, we traveled 12 hours to Formia, Italy, to visit my good friend Cecilia. We were friends from our time in Johannesburg. Now she is married in Italy and I am married in Holland. We haven't seen each other in 11 years. We were very excited but we also didn't know what to expect of each other after not seeing each other for so long.

Just with simple trust of our friendship, we went all the way from Holland to south Italy to see her and her family, and they just accepted us in their home for one whole week. It turned out to be the most beautiful, authentic and heart-warming week together.

I made this collage with all my gratitude. The background is the paper bag which Luigi used to put in sandwiches for the road when we left Formia. THEY MADE US SANDWICHES FOR THE ROAD!!! I learned so much about our friendship, the Italian way of hospitality and I also learned how to love one's friends. Here it is, my humble present for Cecilia and Luigi.
